The Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum (Terra-cotta Warriors Museum) was assessed as one of the first batch of 5A tourist attractions in China in 2007. Taking the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum as an example, this case analyzes the current situation of product development and quality management, and points out that improving the service quality of tourist attractions can greatly enhance the attraction of tourist attractions. This case provides reference for the development of tourist attractions. Understanding the concept of business model is a very important factor for a firm’s performance. This study examines the relationship between business model and performance of SMEs in Nigeria. In spite of increased interest of citizens going into small business, it has indicated that most of businesses end up with poor performance which is as a result of varied attitudes towards business model. Business model was conceptualized using efficiency centered business model design and novelty centered business model design, while performance for the dependent variable was conceptualized using sales growth, return on sales and total factor productivity. With the use of questionnaire survey, business owners of small and medium enterprises operating in Abuja Nigeria were administrated. The aim of this research is to find out to what extent and how SMEs use frameworks for creating and innovating their business models and what the effectiveness of this process is. The relevant issues discussed are, how do SMEs make use of business models and who are involved in the business model process in improving performance. This paper aims to give the state of the art of the business model innovation researches on SMEs. Overall, this article makes three contributions: 1) to enrich the current research on the topic of business model on small medium enterprises, 2) to analyze the researches on the field of the information on the methodology used and the unit analysis of the researches, and 3) to provide future research directions of the business model research, especially in the context of the small medium enterprises....
Small and medium businesses (SMEs) are critical to any country’s national economic development. On the other hand, SMEs confront a considerable difficulty in succession planning: the lack of or inefficiency/ineffectiveness of succession planning. As a result, this quantitative correlational study aimed to evaluate the influence of succession planning on the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. To reach the research goal, the study used a quantitative correlational research design. Data were collected from 140 respondents involved in SMEs from nine districts and municipal assemblies from the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regions of Ghana. The results revealed that most of the respondents, 113 (80.64%), agreed that employees or possible successors might leave the organisation for a better offer and 106 (75.71%) respondents indicated that owners of SMEs do not think about succession plan until there is a crisis. The results also showed that succession plan explains nearly (50%); thus, half the chances of survival of an SME in the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East regions are dependent on succession planning. There was a significant difference in succession plan practices among the different year groups of SMEs. The result also demonstrated no statistically significant difference in the service and manufacturing industries’ succession planning practices among the SMEs surveyed. It is recommended that business owners, policymakers and the state should support SMEs in succession planning development. If possible, succession planning should be part of the school curriculum and entrepreneurship training programmes in schools and business institutes. This will build the capacity of prospective business owners and create awareness about the effects of succession planning on the growth of organisations....
In this study, the reality of administrative empowerment implementation among girls’ colleges in Shaqra University were succinctly identified and evaluated. In solving the organizational challenges of these colleges, this study evaluated the relationship administrative empowerment in its five dimensions using the descriptive approach and questionnaire survey. The study included all the female administrates of Shaqra University, and the response rate reached about 75% of the study sample. The data from the open-ended questionnaire were statistically tested: percentages, computational averages, and standard deviation. The results obtained clearly showed a statistically significant relationship between the applied administrative empowerment in its five dimensions and the inherent organizational problems presented. The most striking recommendations from this study suggested that women leaders at Shaqra University should be accorded more power in order to enhance independence and facilitate proper information sharing for higher performance in the colleges....
With upcoming new smart technologies, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) have to deal with the implementation of industry 4.0 and smart principles. Being known for their constraints in human, technical, and financial resources, SMEs may struggle in the transition phase during introducing industry 4.0. A case study from the Czech Republic should shed some light on the opportunities and issues of the introduction of industry 4.0 in an SME in practice. With an initial plan to target the introduction of industry 4.0 in six steps, the company and its transition project had been overseen in the course of four years, in which the company was able to achieve the first steps of the project successfully. However, the core of industry 4.0 principles was overthrown due to missing expertise and resources. Sum-up meetings and expert interviews in the company created the picture that the company and its workers did not fully understand the core of industry 4.0 due to this missing expertise. This company overrated its abilities, and as a result, the company confirmed that the self-set initial project was out of its research and out of its interest. This paper suggests that SMEs do not only struggle with the resources, but also with the expertise and the management support in terms of difficulties concerning new technologies. With the threat to go into a failed transition, SMEs may need to acquire external expertise in order to be prepared for the upcoming challenges....
